Luca Testa Conductor

Biografy

Italian conductor, is currently the artistic director and the music director of the “Teatro Comunale G. Verdi” in San Severo. Mr. Testa was assistant to Mr. Bartoletti at La Scala Theater for La Boheme (2003); assistant to Mr Santi at San Carlo Theater in Napoli (Arena Flegrea) for La Boheme, at Opera Theater in Rome (Terme di Caracalla) for Nabucco (2004); he was an internship at Opera Theater in Rome for Manon Lescaut conducted by Mr. Renzetti (2007); an internship at Valle d’Itria Festival in Martina Franca for Marcella of U. Giordano (2007); substitute conductor for the modern premiere of Paisiello’s La Daunia Felice at “U. Giordano” Theater in Foggia (2002). Frequent guest conductor of the Niš Symphony Orchestra, he was principal guest conductor of the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional of Paraguay from 2008 to 2011. Mr. Testa, since 1995, is artistic director and music director of “Coro e Orchestra G. Verdi” of Opera in San Severo, with which he conducted hundreds concerts in Italy. He was select as conductor of the world tour “The Sopranos World Concert”. Its debut was in November, of 2007 at Gran Teatro Lirico del Banco Central de Asuncion – Paraguay. The qualities that distinguish him are the great interpretative tradition of Italian opera, the clarity, the effectiveness of the gesture, the elegance and the sing and the breathing of orchestral phrasing. He also stood out in the conduction of the great symphonic masterpieces for large orchestra, has recorded significant appreciation in South America and in East Europe for the execution of Respighi and Martucci pages. After his opera debut conducting Il Matrimonio Segreto, he has conducted Traviata, Rigoletto, Trovatore, Aida, Bohème, Tosca, Carmen, Cavalleria Rusticana, La Daunia Felice and so on.
During his concert activity, he conducted, also on the air, for RAI (Italian Television). Mr. Testa has conducted in a lots of Italian theaters and abroad, such as “Dal Verme” theater (Milano), Gran Teatro Lirico del Banco Central” (Asuncion), “Metastasio” theater (Assisi), “U. Giordano” theater (Foggia), “G. Verdi” theater (San Severo), and so on. Also, he conducted several Orchestras among which: “I Pomeriggi Musicali” (Milano), Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional (Paraguay), Uninorte Orchestra (Paraguay), Niš Symphony Orchestra (Serbia), Symphony Orchestra of the Academy of Music “U. Giordano” in Foggia, Rumanian Philharmonic Orchestra of Timisoara, Great Russian Symphony Orchestra of Ihjevsk, Chamber Orchestra of Academy of Tirana, Chamber Orchestra of the Academy of Minsk (Bielorussia). Mr Testa since 2008 as also served as Professor of conducting for the international masterclass of orchestral conducting at G. Verdi theater in San Severo.
Born in San Giovanni Rotondo, attended both musical and classical studies, gaining a sensibile experience as conductor, conducting since he was 14 years old several orchestras and choirs in Italy and abroad. He was post-graduated summa cum laude in Orchestra Conducting, Wind Instrumentation, Choral Music and Choral Conducting, Clarinet and in Music Didactics at the Statal Musical Conservatoires in Foggia and Bari, he also has completed his studies of Composition in Rome with Teresa Procaccini. He was specialized in Italian Opera with Maestros Bartoletti, Renzetti and Samale.
In 2001 was admitted at the specialization course of Maestro Aldo Ceccato in Milano and in 2006/2007 at the Master of “High School of Orchestra Conducting” of Maestros Donato Renzetti, Piero Bellugi, Bruno Bartoletti, Jorma Panula, Lu-Jia, Lior Shambadal and so on.
